Marin Country Club Nine Holers Association
Want to Be a Niner?
Live an active life with the MCC Niners. Nine holes of golf offers physical and mental exercise, still leaving time for your busy life. The Niners play together one morning each week, January through November. Players are paired each week by the Niner Captain, rotating through the active roster to promote camaraderie within the group. All skill levels play together, and all players improve their games each time they play. After play, there is a group lunch with Niners sharing their games and getting to know each other better.
Professional Instruction for All Skill Levels
Beginner golfers can start playing with just a few lessons covering basic strokes. We offer PAR-TEE, a 11/2 hour novice orientation covering three holes on the course. The cost is $40. Once each month our golf professional teaches a clinic on the course during a regular play day, offering strategies for success!
Skill Building and Competition
The MCC Nine Holers belong to the Women’s Nine Hole Golf Association, which organizes Team Play tournaments in the Bay Area. There are Open Days in which clubs are invited to play at other clubs for a small fee – a fun way to see and play different clubs in the Bay Area.
Within MCC, Nine Holers enjoy fun, relaxed competition during play days, with prizes for Longest Drive, Closest to the Hole, Putting and Charm (best over-all net score.) There are lots of laughs with theme tournaments celebrating holidays like Valentine’s Day, St. Paddy’s Day and the Turkey Trot, complete with costumes and prizes. During summer, once each month Twilight golf starts at 4pm followed by a festive group dinner on the grill patio. At the end of summer, the Tournament of Champions produces the over-all top Niner player, with runners-up in different handicap levels. Occasionally, there are Ladies Nights Out at the home of one of the Niners. Potluck, good cheer and fun!
